Okay, okay. We know that the 2004 Prius has a so-coined "guess" gauge for the gas. I pumped almost 9 gallons in at my last fillup and am averaging 43 over about 300 miles. Two bars left on the gauge, though. If I decide to go by the 10 gallon rule (and be daring, considering I don't know if I had 10 gallons to begin with) that should get me 430 miles including by my guess a good 75 miles on a car begging for gas. Let's not even consider 11.9
What are your situations?

Just "filled up" (?) with exactly 9.000 gallons at 378 miles and 43.4 MPG. The good news is, the 4 miles from the gas station to my house averaged 66 MPG! It was also 77 degrees out with a warm engine and a 1400 mile odometer. Oh, well

The most gas I ever fit in:
I decided to go 30 miles AFTER the last bar started blinking and see how much gas would fit. I always fill at the slowest rate and allow the pump to auto-shutoff. This time I even did it manually and added the last gallon even slower, MAYBE this helped?
I rounded up only 6 cents to make an even $15.00. I would never top off any more than this (also I do believe it's not good to suck the bottom gas out of the tank), but I got obsessed with seeing how far I could go!
Does anyone recall that Seinfeld episode where Kramer, and the car dealer, run the car on fumes just to see how far it will go??? LOL
My display was reading 48.3MPG with 406 miles driven = 9.38 gallons fit in.

Thank you.
Me, as well! The hard part is getting them over here, because many are afraid of change. Others don't want me mentioning the site because it's not part of Yahoo. Then there's people like you who want to come on over but need company!

Do you think it's possible that the 04 tells you get get gas when you are 2 gallons from the amount you FILLED UP with? I filled up with 9 gallons exactly, last time. I drove 8 gallons-worth (light blinking) and filled 6 gallons before the pump shut off. I depressed it a good 30 times to get it over the 8 gallon mark again.

I am averaging pumping in about 8 gallons when there is one bar left and blinking. Just put in 5.8 gal with 3 bars showing. I complained about this on my last visit to my dealer and the technician claims there is nothing wrong!!! I know from past experience it will be a waste of time talking to Toyota.
