i have a new 2005 prius. there is a round raised area on the dash where the power button is. it looks like there is aspace or seam in the dash here. is this normal or do i have a crack in the dashboard

If you are able to take a picture of it, or have someone else take a picture of it and post it here (in the Share section) that would help us be able to answer your question because I'm not really sure what you're referring to. Also take a look at other's photos and maybe you'll be able to compare for yourself.

There is a faint and tactile line that should encircle the power button. The line should delineate the flat suface of the dash from the curved dash surface that bends inward and eventually interfaces with the chromed ring around the power button.

I think what you are seeing is normal.
