Swedish car magazine Vi Bilägare (Car Owners) today published a test of five cars. The cars were tested for holiday purposes, and driven 900 miles. Result:

1. Volvo S40, 23 points (of course, these are Swedish car journalists )
2. Toyota Prius, 19 points
3. VW Golf, 15 points
4. Opel Meriva, 12 points
5. Daewoo Nubira, 7 points

The Prius was acknowledged for:
- Quiet ride
- Reliability
- Ease of drive
- Quick passing
- Consumption statistics on info panel
- Voice controlled audio, navigation and phone
- Spacious interiour
- Mileage (41 mpg)

They didn't like:
- Feel of steering
- Passengers riding in the back seat cannot be taller than 1.8 metres (how much is that in foot and inches?)
- Cannot tow
- Expensive roof cargo holders
- Poor visibility backwards
- Mileage (35 % less than the promised 55 mpg)
- Takes little cargo

For those of us in the US, what is a "p"? For a very quick and not-so-accurate meter-foot conversion, one meter is slightly larger than a yard. A yard is three feet. 1.8x3 = 5.4 feet. Plus a little bit. My guess, around 6 feet

Good one Steven--I don't think I have ever seen one that liked the steering!

Interesting that it was singled out for quick overtaking (passing, I'm assuming?) as that is not a characteristic most of us discuss. Hmmm, I was pretty impressed with the cargo space in the Prius II, but then again I wasn't comparing it with a Volvo.

Patiently praying for a Prius

Good guess, it's points. The five test drivers gave their favourite holiday car 5 points, number two four points and so on.

The official average fuel consumtion of the Prius is 0.43 l/10 km here, which if I am calculating correctly is 54.6 mpg. This is also what Toyota Sweden is marketing. I don't know how they test them, I guess the test personnel have miniscanners and are driving with load...
