Default Prius Slogan Contest

Here's an email that I recieved. Some of you may be interested.

Hi Jason,

A couple months ago you helped the Center for a New American Dream spread the word about our hybrid slogan contest to put pressure on automakers to speed up production of hybrid cars.

I want to thank you again for helping us spread the word. We're happy to report that we've received nearly 35,000 entries for the contest! This response not only confirms that consumers want more hybrid cars now; it also demonstrates the potential power we consumers have to create positive changes in the marketplace.

We thought you and your list members would like to know that starting on February 1, 2005, we will post the top 100 entries on the New Dream website for the next stage of the contest - the Community Choice Awards!

Would you update your readers to let them know that they can view the 100 finalists and encourage them to participate in the Community Choice Awards?

Here's how it works: from February 1st through February 15th, members of the New Dream community will have the opportunity to read through the top 100 slogans and rate them on a scale of 1 to 5. The three slogans that receive the highest average ratings will win the Community Choice Awards. Once we have feedback from our online community about which slogans they think are the best, we will pick the winner of the Grand Prize - the 2005 Toyota Prius. We've drafted a sample email message you can use (feel free to edit it). I've pasted the text below in case you would like to use it to let your readers know what's happening with the contest.

We're very excited about the great momentum this contest has built for our nation-wide campaign to pressure automakers to speed up the production of hybrid cars, and we want to keep the ball rolling!

We'd really appreciate your help letting your readers know about this exciting new stage of the contest. Please let me know if you can help out.

Feel free to email me at ksabochik@mrss.com or call me at 202-478-6305 if you have questions.

Thanks so much for your help,

Katelyn Sabochik

Remember that cool contest we told you about a few months ago - the one where you can win a 2005 Toyota Prius by coming up with a short, catchy slogan encouraging car manufactures to produce more hybrids in the U.S.?

It's time to find out if your slogan made the cut! The Center for a New American Dream has narrowed down nearly 35,000 entries to 100 finalists! Click here to view the top 100 slogans and see if yours is one of them:
http://www.newdream.org/prius/index....ntest_source=4

We need your help to pick the most effective slogan to headline our campaign so that we can achieve our goal of convincing automakers to meet consumer demand for efficient hybrid cars!

We've created the Community Choice Awards to let the online community weigh in on which slogans they think are strongest -- the three slogans that receive the highest average ratings will win a one year membership to Better World Travel, including bicycle and auto roadside assistance – a $124 value.

The results of the Community's Choice Awards will also factor in to New Dream's decision on who will win the Grand Prize - a 2005 Toyota Prius.

If your slogan has been chosen as a finalist, you can tell all of your friends to vote for your slogan at http://www.newdream.org/prius/index....ntest_source=4

By telling your friends, you’re not only increasing your chances of winning, you’re also helping build the strength of our grassroots consumer campaign to pressure automakers to bring more hybrid cars to the market now.

As consumers we have tremendous power to create positive changes in the marketplace - we just have to use it!

So spread the word and tell your friends to go to cast their votes at http://www.newdream.org/prius/index....ntest_source=4 today!

Good luck to you!
