Default Prius XM Satellite Radio

Has anyone other than Jason installed this? Do you need the premium stereo for it to work or is the standard Prius stereo unit OK? How easy is it to install? I'm seriously considering it.

Mike

Talking Re: Prius XM Satellite Radio

Slightly off topic, but I installed Sirius and the Toyota speakers are just fine.

Yes please, I need some info on this too! I am considering putting an XM system in my Prius. I looked at this web site: http://www.coastaletech.com/04prius.htm and am entertaining the thought of buying from them but I am worried about voiding my warranty. Has anyone tried this out?

The maker of PriusXM now has an entire website dedicated to installing satellite radio in hybrids -- both XM and Sirius. http://www.factoryinteractive.com

If you decide to purchase, be sure to reference GreenHybrid as your referrer. Any questions? I'd be happy to answer.

Does it void your warranty, either manufacturer or extended, to add PriusXM?

You won't void the warranty, it must by law cover the defects in manufacturing even if you install equipment. As long as you don't damage anything you'll be fine and the Prius is actually pretty easy to work on if you get the instructions.

I understand that the OEM XM for the Solara works for the Prius. I saw this on Prius Chat. My dealer does not have a clue, except to say that the OEM version requires the JBL adio system. Does the factory incentives work with any radio?

Thanks

Thanks for bringing that up, that was another question I had that I forgot to ask. I have the JBL audio system. Is that sufficient for PriusXM?
