My Bad. I've never heard the pump in a Gen I while driving it. Perhaps the Gen II is just louder, as I've heard this sound in every one I've driven.

Actually, I don't know why Toyota couldn't have refined this device. They can make the A/C compressor practically silent from within the car at a stoplight, but the brake booster just buzzes away.

Folks - Thank you for all the suggestions. I also contacted the dealership and was told that this sound should be normal...but still the buzzing sound is quite noticeable. I'll ask for a check up with the technician, and will keep you guys posted. BTW, Drew's comments sounds right (buzzing like an aquarium air bubbler) , i'll try to test the pump tomorrow.

Drew is correct. I just pump my brake padel four times, then buzzing starts.
I hope Toyota find a way to fix it.

1) You have a few moments peace, and
2) Your brakes are out
