Default recommended mods

I am picking my 2008 with pkg #3 next week. I am wondering what mods (that do not void the warranty) I should look into. I purchased the hood for the MFD last night as it looked good and I do think glare might be an issue on the display. I'm also thinking of sticking my garmin C550 to the flat top of the hood. Anyone have any recommendations? The shark fin antenna looks cool but I'm worried it might void something. Also, anyone using garmin GPS - where do you stick it - there is not much flat space on the dash. Any help appreciated.

Start with the Prius FAQ to make sure you're optimized for performance. Don't worry about the 'dealer tank' but treat it as 'practice gas.' When you get low, fill up with something like Shell or other high energy gasolines. If you are in an ethanol area, check out the thread about E30 testing.

GOOD LUCK!

The shark fin antenna will give you worse reception than the factory antenna, which is itsef worse than a good old fashioned 34 inch rod antenna.

Thanks for the bit on the antenna. I don't really use the radio all that much - usually cds - and with the aux input I will use my ipod. I guess it's best to leave it alone in case I want/need the radio, or for future resale.

Has anyone installed ipod integration? I saw that the TCH has a kit available to be installed by the dealer. Is there such an option of the Prius? If not, what is recommended? I am looking at the SL2i from VIAS.

The only thing that I can highly recommend from experience is getting some Michelin HydroEdge tires once your originals wear out. Much better handling and wet/snow traction.

Thanks for that tip. As I drive in snow (upstate NY) that is something I don't mind investing in once I need new tires.
