Default Serious Prius Hypermiler on His Way

Noticed at the gym one of the guys I chat with just got a loaded Prius II. I think he will be coming here soon. He thinks he can do much better than 48mpg, but that sounds like respectable FE already. He wants to find out about P&G and seriously thinks we are in a PeakOil situation (I concurr). So, I you find someone join from Denton, give him a good welcome!

I think an entrance questionnaire is in order:

So, you think you got what it takes to join the hybrid elite, huh ?
Answer these questions, and then go to the next post to find out if greenhybrid is your kind of place.

1. What makes your heart race: 100 mph, or 100 mpg
2. Who is your daddy ? EPA, FBI, or OSHA
3. Regarding MPG: 14 sucks, 18 is so-so, 25 is pretty good, and > 30 is what dreams are made of. True, or False
4. What lane do you drive in ? Far Right, far Left, or all of 'em while you weave though traffic.
5. Bonus Question: You see a signal 100 yds ahead. What color do you want it to be ? Red, or Green.

I think his idea of serious hypermiling is using a moped - really. He believes we need to consider those modes of transport to avoid a pre-industrial society. I don't disagree.

I would love to drive a moped or small motocycle instead of a car. But for better or worse, I value my life more than that. I have been caution ed by many motorcyle drivers that our town is just too unsafe to risk driving in-town on a two wheeled contraption (they only drive theirs on the highway).

To be able to do this, we need to get the monsters off the road and do a better job of training individuals to learn how to share the road with 2-wheelers.
