Default Just traded my HCH in on a new Insight

I just traded my 03 HCH in on an 05 Insight and I have a tire pressure question. The Insight manual lists the back tire pressure as different than the front tire pressure. When I bump up the pressure (was planning on 50 psi -- the tires are Bridgestone) is it alright to set all tires to the same pressure, or do I need to leave the discrepancy in there? Thanks for your input.

On my Insight, even though I raise the pressure, I leave the discrepency there due to the difference in weight load between the front and back tires.

Hi Gatornail:

___I run the same on all 4 at 50 + #’s with no differential. Actually 58.5 #’s in 65 degree temps as I checked them last night. It is up to you but once you are over 44 #’s, the RE92’s are stiff enough where there will not be a difference front to rear in terms of sidewall flex no matter the Insight’s small forward weight bias.

___By the way congratulations! Did you pick up a 5-speed by chance? Given your previous history, I am sure you will make the Hypermile list again with it in short order …

___Good Luck

I wish I could have gotten a 5 speed! I had been looking for a couple of months just to find an Insight to test drive to see if I'd like it, not so easy to find in rural NC. I was visiting my parents in Jax, FL when the dealership there got one in...it was a CVT, but I fell in love with the color (Blue) and then just went ahead and got it (I do wish it was a 5 speed, though.)

Does anyone here know where I can get a dead petal for it? The local auto parts store here (Rocky Mount, NC) looked at me like I was crazy when I aked in there!

Also, when you "keep the difference" in the tire pressure, do you mean the precentage difference or the 3 psi difference? Thanks.

I averaged 57 (calculated at the pump) coming back from FL, but considering the difference between the CVT and the 5 speed that I'm used to driving I don't think that's too shabby...I'm sure I'll get better as I get used to it (and adjust the tire pressure, and other mods.)

Yes, I mean the 3 psi difference.

57 mpg at the pump in a CVT is great. Congratulations.
