We know the Insighters are nuts about gas milage, but this idea is very practical. One of the Insighters over at InsightCentral.net posted up a solar powered vent van DIY. Here it is http://fungiart.com/insight/solarfans.html

Cheers,
Steven

Steven,
I went right past this post the first time around since the whole solar fan thing always seemed like such a corny idea. I've got to say that this article goes way beyond what I expected to see. This guy takes modifications to a whole new level. Running new wires; splicing connections, installing toggle switches.
Interesting read, although I don't think I have the guts to mess with the electrical system at this point.

You "should" be able to go to Radio Shack or similar and buy a stand alone solar charger equipped with its own battery etc so you won't have to tap into the cars harness and cause "harmness" Ok sorry couldn't help that pun.

I might even look into something like this for the HCH.

Steve and Eric,
I do need to look into the actual details, but after reading Wayne's post in the staying cool section, I have decided to put a cooler in the trunk and run air through it to cool the car...comments?
Cheers,
Steven

Great idea but you might have to work out a control for the humidity.
Let us know how it works out!
