I just posted a picture of my current tank. Here's the link. I'm only 400 miles into it and am at 82.7 mpg on the gauge.
I'm hoping I'll end up at 80+ mpg. We shall see.
If you check out the picture especially notice the fuel gauge.
The Insight is one of the few cars where you would be at 1/2 a tank of gas after travelling 400 miles!!!
My previous best tank was 8/9/04, 77.7 mpg calculated. (81.5 on the dash.) Even if I don't break 80mpg, hopefully I'll beat my previous record.
I think it will be a few weeks before I'll know the outcome because I am borrowing a different car all next week.
Wish me luck!

Re: Working on an 80 mpg tank (I hope.)
Good Luck! I hope you don't have any mean friends who stop by in your absence (when you're not standing next to your car) and add about 3/4 gallon of gas to your tank. That is is the ultimate cruel joke for a "Hybrid Junky". Especially if they tell you the truth later.

Great job so far! You should be able to pull it off!
I just filled up today and struggled to make it 75 MPG for that tank. Still trying to get the hang of not using assist.
As it gets hotter, I'm tempted to start using the A/C full time. Instead of just cycling it on while slowing down. I am trying the misting spray bottle for the evening drive home.
There is no rule that says you must drain you tank before posting in the database. Fill that dude up before you hit rain or something else that kills the tank!
Too late, My wife took the car for the evening. You know what that means...
I jokingly asked her not to kill my mpg.
Of course she immediately laughed and confirmed that it will definitely be lower when she returns.

___I am wishing you the best of luck indeed! If that was my wife about to take my car while on a record tank, I think I would have to give up the wife Mine is not going to touch the Accord right now (51.2 mpg @ 467 miles) unless she really persisted and I can only admire your patience in dealing with the request.
___In either case, I was watching your tanks all winter knowing I was cherry picking w/ the Ranger P/U due to the impending/future sale of the Insight. I cringed whenever I saw you had added a tank in the Midwest’s blistering cold temps. Your tenacious drive for hypermileage in the Insight even through the coldest winter months is an inspiration to us all.
___Good Luck as I know if it isn’t this tank, it will be the next one …
