Default '06 HCH MPG display bug

Like many others, my '06 HCH has the problem with the per trip MPG display re-setting every 62 to 63 miles.

About a week ago, I received a phone call from Honda asking me to rate the salesman and the dealership in a quick phone interview.

One of the questions they asked was, "are you having any problems with your new HCH?" I told them about the MPG display problem. About a week later I got a call from the dealership that sold me the vehicle and was told that Honda is aware of the problem, is working on a fix, and I will be notified when the fix is available and can bring my vehicle in.

Just thought I would pass that info along.

Hi Corey;

Thanks for the Heads-Up on the FE Display Problem and also that Honda is aware of this Problem and going to Contact you Later with the Fix.

The VIN is JHMFA36266S010075 of my Incoming HCH II. If it is Handy would you mind Posting your Vin# so I can see what the Spread is between our two HCH II's. I was hoping that Honda would have this situation corrected before mine was Built on February 01, 2006. Well I guess I'll soon find out. My car is suppose to be here around February 20TH to my dealer.

It looks like this is your 1st Thread here. If so Welcome to GreenHybrid, hope you enjoy the Forum.

Regards; Terry

My # is 4180, therefore it would appear the gap between ours is 5895.
Hopefully yours will not have the glitch.

Bah. I think I have it too. I just noticed some wild oscillations of the avg MPG when my current tank hit 248 miles (62x4). Should I call Honda or the dealer and let them know I have the issue?

I don't think I have it. But my car may have been built earlier. I mean, I haven't noticed it, is at at 64 mile intervals when you reset the tripometer ????

Every 62 miles, the avg MPG display (Trip A or B) will start fluctuating wildly as if it lost all of its previous data.

Hi;

It kinda looks like that the later Vin #'s don't have the Problem with the FE Gauge Readings.

I wish we had an idea where the cut-off is with the Vin that has reported the Problem.

My Vin # JHMFA36266S010075

Terry

BTW; This had a Build Date of: 2/1/2006; Have not received vehicle yet.
