Default 2006 Civic Hybrid Warranty

I was just on the Honda web site and found this:

Q: What kind of warranty does the Civic Hybrid have?
A: The Civic Hybrid comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000 limited powertrain warranty, just like every other Honda. Its battery pack comes with an 8-year/80,000-mile warranty,† and all emissions-related equipment comes with a more extensive warranty. See your dealer for details.

Is this 5 yr. powertrain warranty new for all Honda models? I don't recall seeing this for prior model years.

Not to give you a short reply but to answer your question in brief. Hondas use to be 3-36 for there warranty. It just got upgraded with the 06 Models.

I talked to Honda dealer today and he showed me a fresh news release; the warranty
on the battery pack is being extended to 10 years/150,000 miles.

The battery warranty isn't being extended; it's being mandated by the state of California, New York, and a few others as a significant component of the PZEV system. All other components than the battery are 15 years or 150,000 miles.

Also, I just found after buying my 06 HCH that the 8 year battery warranty is pro-rated. They will reimburse you 100% for the first 36 months, then it drops to 60% - then approx. 10% every year.

Archslater - is that via written documentation, ie; the warranty booklet ? What does it say about the rest of the IMA system ? 8/80 ? 5/60 ? 3/36 ? other ? nothing ?

The warranty info is in a book that comes with the manual, etc... as in most new cars, except this one is much longer. The 8/80 warranty only refers to the "Battery". I would assume the rest of the IMA system would be part of the 5/60 powertrain warranty, but I will have to read the warranty book more to verify.
