Alright so I was prowling around the Honda lot today to take a look at the new Accord (and it's pretty impressive to say the least).
However, what caught my eye was this particular Civic as I was leaving the lot.
It was 4-dr sedan and had the HCH alloy wheels and a rear spoiler. BUT it had black mirrors and black handles. I didn't have time to stop and check it out as I had to leave but this got me thinking.. is this in response to the Prius price drop?

I do not recall seeing any info of the sort in the channel at all.
Besides, it does not make much sense for them because unlike Toyota, they do not have the production capacity to withstand the demand that a lower price point would create. Currently the limit of 38,000 units per year is due to production capacity limitations.
I fear the only way to tell if that was really a hybrid, is to look under the hood or the dash.
I am sure it is a dressed up version of the DX with some hybrid parts. I am sure they charge a pretty penny for those items added to the DX.
Yeah I went to Honda Canada's site and click "Build it" under the Civic section.
Apparently the DX-G looks like that - hybrid wheels and rear spoiler. I can't find an "options" page so it's kinda hard to see what's included.. apparently we have a DX, DX-A, DX-G, LX, LX-G, EX-L and Si.... that's a lot more choices than last year when we had a DX, DX-G, LX and EX.

Wow- I think I know what they are doing- they are offering the DX-G as a slight upgrade and since our lightweight rims are 15"- that is the upgrade as well (the LX and up are 16" or 17" for the SI).
Still, it does seem kind of odd that they would do that- the rims were one "hybrid" only items that made us stand out. Now the cheap end Civic will have the same thing- I wonder if that would affect our resale values?
