463.1 miles on 9.885 gal=46.8mpg!

just finished my first tank of gas, and 46.8 mpg! just thought i'd share my excitement

All I have to say is wait until spring if you live in the north.

Congratulations! This board is a great resource and there are lots of great ideas here for even better mileage. I'm a new hch II owner too, just had a 55.0 mpg run from San Antonio to Dallas ... having the wind at your back makes a huge difference, and temps of 70-75 were perfect, too.

Then you read about what some of the other folks here do with their 60mpg average, but anything around 50 is good in my book. Beating the EPA is cool.

And on the same day I had my worst tank ever! I've been averaging 49, but my latest tank, when I fill up, will be my worst tank of the car's life. The trip to and from my in-laws for thanksgiving was the worst scenario possible. Strong headwind both trips. Of course, had I traveled the other direction both days, from there to home and back, I'd have had a tailwind the whole time. Got to love when the wind shifts in bad ways. Anyway, I'm at 43.6 indicated right now, which is just terrible for me. Hopefully I'll have a better follow-on tank.
