Smile 50.2 mpg on my 2nd tank! HCH II

I went 522.1 miles on my second tank of gas, and filled up with 10.40 gallons of gas resulting in 50.2 mpg. No way was I expecting this. I drive like a bat outta hell every time I go to work (always running late). On my trip home from work, I try to drive moderately. Nearly all miles are highway miles. This car continues to amaze me!

Congratulations! Your mileage may even improve a modest amount as you grow accustomed to the performance characteristics of your new car. Who knows? Maybe 54-55 MPG is not out of the question.

My highest tankful was 54.8 and I was really pushing that yellow warning light to try to make it to 55.0
I have not even come close since that time. 51 is now my max. MPG killed since using the HOV lanes, but I get to work faster!!

My second tank...445 miles, 10.1 Gallons = 44 MPG. Lower than the first, but still darn good in my mind. Still about 50% city/50% highway at 65+ MPH. Temps were slightly lower this weekend, too. Not over 50 yet, but I ain't complainin'.

Question Re: 50.2 mpg on my 2nd tank! HCH II

Finishing my first tank (4 dots left), and have 540 miles so far. Started with a FULL tank (topped off at dealership expense). Warm Miami weather and driving tips (THANKS, GUYS!!!) helping. Next tank will pump up the stock tires, to see how that helps. Question for you all. Until what level are you all pumping gas to yield "a tank"? First click off of pump? When it clicks off quickly if you try again?

I didn't get the NAV system, because I didn't realize what else besides navigation maps it gave Oh well, live and learn!

Another question for those of you with all the bells and whistles. When the fuel gauge shows half tank (and quarter tank), how many gallons of gas are really left? First half of tank took awhile to draw down, but second half dropping quickly. Is half really a third tank?

I am immensly pleased with my 2006 HCH Mag Pearl. I noticed that I am much more tranquil in rush hour traffic (unless I am late, haha).

When the pump stops, you stop.
Don't pump any more gas in.

Wow...You're getting really good mileage. I don't have a lot of experience, but here's what I found with the two tanks I have had.

Three bars - 9 Gallons (pretty true estimate for both tanks based on actual gas mileage)
One bar - Fuel light came on a block from the gas station - 10 Gallons

However, it will vary depending on cornering and sitting on a hill as the fuel will move in the tank and it can show a lower amount for long enough to set off the fuel light. This has been true of all my Hondas.

But based off my own experience, you're around 60 MPG. Let us know when you fill up.
