Default Air Vent question

WHen running the heater with the control knob positioned to blow to the floor only, I get significant heat out of the driver side vent on the dash. Even at low speed it releases air from that vent. At high speed it comes out pretty well. Is this an issue on anyone else's 05 or is an adjustment needed to whatever mechanism opens and closes that vent door ? Thanks, Pete

My 05 HCH does the same thing and I believe its standard operating procedure. I think it blows warm air to defog the driver's side window. (for big guys like me that breathe heavy ) Just adjust the vent "open/close" lever to desired comfort level or you can shut it off completely.

I noticed my last car, a Volkswagen Jetta, did the same thing. Regardless of the vent setting, it always blew some air out of the vent on the far left side, facing the driver.

I figure this must be some weird U.S. regulation or something.

Lots of cars have that - Geo Prizm, Avalanche, Cressida to name some of the cars I have owned which have the side window vent as a part of the defrog process....

Could very well be a US Reg...........

Thanks to all. I figured it was there "for my own good". I typically leave the vent open and welcome a little heat as well and assumed it had to do with the window........

Definitely must be standard for the '05. My driver side vent also blows air while set to Defrost, Floor, or Defrost and Floor.
