That driver survived UNSCRATCHED you say? Are we sure that's not an Urban Myth? I mean, look at the car - do you see anywhere large enough for a human to have been "uncrunched?"

I'll answer my own question. Either he survived or the rescue workers lied to this TV station:

Yeah, the driver's seat was basically the only part of the car that survived. I want this guy's guardian angel, let me tell ya.

It's all about reaction time. At 60MPH you're travelling 88 feet per second. If you're less than 100 feet behind that semi, and it takes you one second to react to what happens, bye bye paint job. At that kind of distance you have to keep your eyes glued to the semi's back end constantly.

Whenever I'm behind a vehicle that doesn't allow me to see over him or through his windows to what's happening in front of him, I more or less double my distance.

That's if he stops instantly. In reality he's not going to hit a wall without me knowing about it (ie he drifts off the road and I wouldn't follow him).

7 - 600-mile tanks... farthest on "normal" gas fill= 643miles

And ONE 735-miler!! (cheated, over-filled tank )
