Default Buying Advice

Hi All,
This is my first post as I don't own a hybrid. However, my sister is considering purchasing a 2005 Civic Hybrid with 84,000 miles. I'm looking for reviews, positive and negative.

Thanks

If it were me I would not look past the 2006 models. Check out 2005 and older HCH1 threads and you should come to the same conclusions? Hal

Aww, Hal, don't dis my car...

The way I see it, with the first generation the most worrisome problem would be the CVT if it's an automatic. Look for juddering or slippage of the transmission during a test drive. It's hard to predict how long the IMA battery lasts on these things; watch how the charge/assist gauge behaves as you drive. I've had some CVT issues on mine, but the battery seems to be fine.
With the second generation, there's the possibility of issues with the rear control arms and recals.
