Default Dead Battery Dilema

I have a 04 HCH CVT.
I left a dome light on over the weekend and Monday morning my battery was dead.
100% dead.
Zip
Nada.

I called AAA.
Fortunately the battery jump worked.

But what if it had not worked?
How could they tow it?
It was in the garage, head in.
It was in Park.
You can't shift it from Park to Neutral unless the engine is running.
But what if you can't start it?
How do you get it into neutral so you can push the car or tow it?

On my old Accord there was a release next to the shift lever.
You push a key into it and you can shift from Park to Neutral with the car off.
The HCH doesn't have seem to have this.
I couldn't find anything in the manual about this problem.

The release is under a pop off tab just above the P next to shifter.
Use a screw driver to pop off tab and then poke driver in hole to release shifter.
I did the same thing and was very upset because I assumed this high tech vehicle was smart enough to shut off all lights that I might foolishly leave on. I also assumed that the battery pack could keep one little light going for days.

I just looked at my 2005 HCH manual, and on page 134 there is an override procedure for getting the car out of park, where you insert the key into a slot which you can find on the top left corner of the shift area on the CVT.

This may be different from your 2004, though.

You're right, I found it.

It is *very* well camouflaged compared to my 92 Accord.

Thanks.
