Default Does Auto Stop ever...stop?

Picked up my 2004 HCH CVT from the service department at the dealer today. I was getting some panels aligned in the front right and left rear - just some bad clips. Driving home, I noticed that the auto stop was not working - the engine stayed on at every stoplight. I also felt that I was not getting the same power assist from the battery - the car felt a little sluggish.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Am I missing something? I am taking it in for the software update on Monday and will have them look at this. It has 25,000 miles on it. Thanks.

I just took it around the neighborhood and the econ button was not lit. I pushed it and auto-stop worked again. I didn't know this had to be engaged to make auto stop work. I guess it makes sense though. I've only had it a few days. Thanks!

Yes, so far I've found it pretty complicated to sort out the conditions under which it will auto stop or not - especially with the heater/ac controls. I'll have to go read the manual for a third time in three days now to remind myself again.

One odd thing I have noticed - when it autostops in my driveway, it starts up again when I shift into park. Why does it do this???

That starting when you put it in park has to be by design. I have tried to get use to cutting the key off, then putting in park just to save wear and tear. Probably would not add .1 mpg to car in 10000 miles doint this.

There are times when the auto stop does not work even after warm up. Dont know why, but since this is not often at all, dont worry about it.

i do the same thing, if i park my car and auto-stop engages, i shift into neutral, turn the engine off, then shift into park.

one question though, has anyone ever noticed that if you're driving around and come to a stop, and auto-stop does not engage, that if you shift into neutral, it automatically turns auto-stop on? this has happened to me on quite a few occassions, at least one to two times a day, anyone else get this to happen?

If this is true -- shift to neutral to engage the auto-stop -- then I will be very happy. Because this would work nicely whilst waiting in the fast-food drive-through line.

Not that *I* would ever eat that horrible fast food stuff myself. But I've just heard that it was a problem. Honest.

I'm almost too embarrassed to mention this but... One time I was demonstrating all the wonderful features of my HCH to a friend and tried to show him the autostop feature. It did not kick in as it usually does and I was totally mystified. After He got out and drove away in his SUV I noticed that the geer shift was not in D (drive) but in S (second?super?). I shifted into D and it worked as advertised. My friend is still driving his SUV.

I know when the Civic HX first came out - Honda's first CVT car - the S was supposed to stand for sport, since it would permit higher RPM and hold the engine speed higher and accellerate a little quicker. There isn't really a second gear since there's no gears at all. It seems a little weird to call it sport on a car that only has 85 horsepower, but I guess they figured they'd just use that anyway since there's no other good letter to represent higher RPM.
