Default hch-2 gas guage

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum but have gotten alot of great info already from it. I just bought a '07 HCH-2 a few weeks ago and am truly loving it.

Does anybody out there know how much fuel remains in the tank when the last bar disappears on the gas gague? I'm guessing it's somewhere around 2 gallons but I thought someone might know the precise amount? It's the most bizarre feeling to continue driving over 100 miles after the gauge ready 'empty'!

Thanks for any input....

I was wondering the same thing myself. I usually fill up when my 06 has two bars left and there are 2 gallons left. I keep on wondering if I should wait till the last bar, but I also don't want to buy a new fuel pump!

I always drive a minimum of 50miles after the last bar disappears (never a tank under 600miles as yet!). Sometimes I have gone as much as 80 miles after (744miles tank).

I really think that there are over 2 gallons after the last bar disappears, I just don't want to find out!

1.71 gallons when the light comes on. Not sure what that means after the last bar disappears.

Having that extra is common for Hondas, I have owned 3 Civics, a 1988, a 1995, and my 2006 Hybrid. They all had it. If you include the rest of my family, we've had every generation of Civic except 7th. They all had that reserve, too. 1.5-2 gallons.

I've drove my hybrid couple of times with no bars showing while trying to make it to the next gas station. I highly wouldn't recommend doing that since I've noticed the car hesitate a little while going uphill. IMO, no bars means you're running on fumes!!!

I've driven 80 miles past no bars, and I still had .4 gallons remaining in the tank. Plenty of gas left after the last bar goes.

My light comes on with 2 bars left. Well over 2 gallons left. Even after driving 30 miles with no bars, I had about .8 of a gallon

Thumbs up Re: hch-2 gas guage

On my HCH2 with no bars left, I always fill up with 10.3-10.4 gallons. So 12.3 gallons on a full tank - 10.3 gallons = 2 gallons left. So 80+ miles left before you are pushing your car off the road.
