My IMA battery failed recently at around 105K. No IMA/CHK engine light. Service confirmed here is the problem and confirmed 150K warranty extension in NYC. But they asking me to pay 125usd to update firmware and if problem persists they will replace the battery but nor refund these 125usd. That's the only option they offered. Is that ok to charge 125usd for ima issue that is under warranty?

 

The good news is that they are willing to replace the battery without an actual IMA and engine light.

If you can get a new battery + firmware update for $125 out the door, you are doing really well and I would probably go for it.

That being said the firmware updates I paid for were $50 in Ohio. I guess it may be the higher rents/wages in NYC dealers would explain the higher cost

 

Well i pay 250 dlls for the battery cover, If Ir dont pay it they dont replace the battery so I have new " battery for 250... Well yours need to be smart with the software cause it can hide IMA troubles... And your goal is to get a new battery
