Thumbs up Holy Smokes! 48.5 MPG on the first tank

WOW...This thing is EXCEEDING all expectations. I just filled up for the first time. 443.1 miles and 9.137 gallons or about 48.5 MPG for the first tank. That is filling up with about four "clicks" and also with the car pointed downhill slightly at the gas station. If the Civic is like my other Hondas, you get more in the tank when pointed downhill. My FE gauge indicated 43.9 MPG, so it was off by -9.5%. The Sub is usually around -5%. We'll see how it holds in the future.

Our driving has been about 50% highway (65-70 MPH) and 50% city. Morning temps have been in the upper 20s to low 30s with daytime highs in the mid 50s. We have kept the AC off. I also 55-60 MPH. I do try to keep the Instantaneous FE gauge as high as possible, but I doubt that my wife is trying to do that (about half the mileage was hers).

Compared with the Ody, we saved about $20 on this tank and a whopping $50 over the Sub in six days. That comes out to $100 - $250 gas savings per month (at $2.20 per gallon). Yes, we are making payments. But with the typical Honda resale value, a good portion of that is going back in my pocket and not the oil company's.

I continue to fully enjoy this vehicle. It is quiet (quieter than the Ody) and has a great ride (I prefer stiffer rides). Power is more than adequate ("raced" a Blazer up the ramp on Friday), but the mileage so far is incredible. Others have had very good writeups about their cars. Instead of repeating everything, I'll just say "DITTO". There's nothing that I don't like so far. And my son's 5' Bo Staff fit just fine between the front seats.

I hope that the trend continues...It's been fantastic so far...
