Default Hybrid smaller than EX??

How is it that the HCH is 1.3" shorter and 1.5" narrower than it's EX counterpart?

I think it's an error in Honda's website. Perhaps it pulled a few dimensions from the 2005 Civic Hybrid? If I look under the 2006 Hybrid rather than the "compare" feature - the overall length of the HCH II is 176.7", weight 2875lbs and width 69.0".... exactally what the "EX" is listed at. On Edumunds.com, the 2005 HCH I is listed with a length of 175.4 and width of 67.5 - the same as the link you provided. Looks like Honda mixed and matched 2005 and 2006 data...

Eric

I went into Honda Canada's site. They list the diminesions in Metric and the EX and the HCH are identical to the millimeter.

Surely the answer is obvious? The HCHII is made in Suzuka whereas the EX is made in the US. During shipment the former inevitably shrinks a little. Nothing to worry about! It should expand again if for example you drive down to AZ and stay there a couple of weeks.

That's how it saves gas, it's smaller.

Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

BrotherKnight and the Case of the Mysterious Shrinking Hybrid. Nancy Drew would be all over this one. I congratulate you on your meticulous attention to detail- a very useful trait.

Different width is possible given the Hybrid has different side rearview mirrors. But I would be surprised if they were that different.

Nancy Drew?! Pish-posh, I say! Jupiter Jones from Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investgators would have that solved in a flash!
