Default I'm a little dissapointed

My first tank in my 2006 was only 54.9 MPG.
My lifetime average in my 2004 was 60.1, so I was hoping to start out with a bang.

There were a lot of uphill climbs to get this car home, and the tire pressure was low.
I had to drive 350 miles (each way) to get $1000 under MSRP, from Keith McCue at Perry Motors in Bishop California.

I hope the next tank is better.

BTW 54.9 was calculated at the pump.
My HCH2 has the software bug so the MPG readout on the dash is worthless.
WHAAAAAAAA!

Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

Could be the break in too. I'm still holding out hope that these HCHs jump after a few 1000 miles.

Can you imagine 4 years ago talking about how you only got 55 mpg and that was disappointing? 55 MPG is a great problem to have...wish I had it.

I'd call that pretty darn good for a new car that should be breaking in. Will be anxious to see what you get in the upcoming months. The 60 you were getting in your HCH I is impressive.

Hey Kenny; I know that from your Post that you are a little disappointed with the FE but really it sounds Not-Bad from where I am sitting. I would like to say to you, Great and when you get some more miles on it perhaps the FE will increase even further.

Congrats:

Terry

I'm not quite sure how to respond to that, considering I'm barely holding on to 44mpg according to my readout, which doesn't appear to have the software bug. I think I'm babying the thing, and it seems that if I just look at the accelerator wrong, my mpgs drop. I'm assuming you have the same reformulated gas as we do in Houston, so I'm not going to blame the gas. I have my tires pumped to max (40psi). I'd blame the cold, but it doesn't get below 45F in the mornings and it's up to the 70s during the day.

If you consider 54.9mpg disappointing, then I should shove a couple sticks of dynamite in my car's tailpipe and blow the thing up

In all seriousness, congrats on your numbers! I'm going to soak my seething envy in a beer

Jeff
