I have a 2003 HCH, 100k miles; it has been problem-free. A few days ago the IMA light came on and stayed on for another 50 miles. The dealer says that the IMA batteries need replacing because the computer registered some kind of fault that implies the batteries are weak. Quoted cost is $2400 for "remanufactured" part and installation. There seems to be some belief that one can keep drving until battery failure - any comments from anyone? Is there a cheaper, alternative source for parts and repair?
