Talking I've taken the plunge!!!

Placed my order last weekend: (does this sound ok??? - not that it matters now

Here are my demands to the salesman - in his own words copied back to me.
  1. 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid - magnesium pearl or alabaster silver (non-navi)
  2. $21,800 + ttl w/window tint (incl. dest)
  3. 100,000 mile warranty = $850
  4. 120,000 mile warranty = $1000
  5. Installed fog lights = $519.23 (TBD)
  6. finance rate 4.9% W.A.C
  7. Absolutely positively no additional cost to be added at any time.
  8. $500 deposit is required. We will refund you the deposit if the car is not to your standards.
  9. I will make sure the dealership logo is not put on the back of your vehicle.
I've been driving a used 2000 Mitsu Galant (4 cyl) for several years and my commute allows me to get 27-29 mpg year round - I think EPA is around 27 or 28 for that vehicle. I've been reading this website for about 6 months to try to learn how to hypermile and to learn everything I can about the HCH2.

I drive about 500 miles/week on generally flat roads with 2/3 of it on a state hwy doing 60-65 mph. So, I'm hoping my driving habits and commute are optimized for this car!

He told me that there's one "on the boat" and should be at the dealership in md-late April!

Congratulations! Looks like a nice setup! At 500 miles a week, you're really going to save gas/$. I drive half that and still come out way ahead over my former car (25 mpg). Was it a CVT or MT?

Your profile doesn't show where you live. Is fog frequent and/or thick enough there to justify >$500 for fog lights? We often get dense fog in these parts, but I've found regular low beams work fine.

Congratulations on the new car! It sounds like you really did your homework before 'taking the plunge' and I'm sure it's all going to pay off for you. The HCH is a great car, and I'm sure you're going to love yours when it arrives in April. If the options you described work for you, then great (although I agree with Dave that the fog lights might not be worth that much money- but it's up to you. If you are used to having fog lights or know you'll use them a lot, then by all means go for it). Sounds like a reasonably good price/financing/deposit, just from what I've heard from other people on this board. So good luck with the new car, and be happy!

I'm in Allen, TX - and I travel along HWY 380 to Greenville everyday to work. Fog lights may be useful b/c I drive over a lake which can have some fog around it. I think I'm going to wait though.

The price I was quoted ($21,800) includes extra window tint and dest., but not TTL.

For me it's like a love affair. I slip out from time to time to slide my hands down her elegant body or sit and smell her exotic new perfume. .....Then my wife calls that supper is ready and I have to leave her all alone overnight!
