Default Re: Killing the Buzzers on 06 HCH

I had a similar problem with my toyota T-100. When I finally located the buzzing device, I found it had many wires connected to it making me worry that removing it might interrupt some other critical electronic connection... so i fixed it with the tip of a probe moving at high velocity perpendicular to the piezzo element. In other words, I jammed a screwdriver into the vibrating diaphram of the buzzer, which stopped the sound without interrupting the electronics.

I find it interesting the responses here. I have asked similar technical questions on this forum about disabling annoying features and the overwhelming response I got from folks was that I should learn to live with it. That I should adapt to the car, not make the car adapt to me. While this is a valid solution to the problem, I find it interesting that that particular solution is so popular here. Most other vehicle forums I frequent would have lots of technical solutions rather than suggesting that I should get over it. I wonder what that says about the general population of this board. More users than tinkerers? Interesting anyway.

So, Tom in Austin, other than the crude solution above, I have no better advice to offer you. However, rest assured that, as a user who generally feels like I can manage to drive the car without it thinking for me, I sympathize with your frustration at the barrage of dings bells and buzers in today's cars. Hey all I want to do is lock the doors without an act of congress. Good luck and enjoy your new car!

Cheers.
