What do you need to tow?

What's the towing capacity of the Element?

Can the Escape Hybrid tow?
Im only towing a 450 lb sport bike plus the weight of the hitch and small trailer which I dont have yet. Need the smallest trailer possible.

Wow, that adds up to less than the load capacity of the HCHII. Are you sure you don't want to try adding a hitch. It's certainly worth a new thread like "How much can the HCHII really tow?"

Good luck.

Are there potential tax credit implications if you purchase?

"The new law for the hybrid tax credit requires taxpayers to recapture their hybrid tax credit if they re-sell their hybrid car or truck. Further details will be provided by the IRS when they issue regulations to interpret and implement this new tax law."

Element tow capacity is 1500#. The FEH can tow, I looked at one with a factory hitch on it, but I don't know what it's rated for.

Take it to {CAR-MAX} and get a quote from them. I sold them my S60R Volvo and they were Approx. $3,700.00 Dollars more than the Volvo Dealer I bought it from.

Good-Luck,

Just be aware that the CVT's do not I think hold up well under a towing situation. The CVT I do not think is very strong.

If you do decide to add the Hitch to the HCH I would have the CVT serviced {Frequently}. Just to be safe:

Hi noflash,

Sorry all my GH Instant E-Mail notices went to my Spam-Folder:

Just cleared them and see you ask this question.

Yes it can and the "Maximum Lbs is 1,000". That includes the Weight of the Trailer and what the load is that it is carrying. This is on page 185 of the HAH Owners Manual for 2007.

Hope this Helps:

Terry
