Hey Brian;

Have you ever noticed that when you get a New Ride that you pick-it up in the rain and drive it home in the rain. I have been there more than a couple of times with new rides and to me it kinda takes away from the moment.

But hey tomorrow is another day and hopefully the sun will be be shinning and all will be bright. Get the wash mit out and let the clean-up begin. As they say, men, start your washing and lets get this Bad-Boy Shinning like the North Star.

Hi Jeff;

I can tell you what you are doing and that is (Living-Life) to the fullest while you can. I am probably quite a bit older than you by alot and believe me when I share this thought with you it is sincere and from the Heart. I have many times ask myself that exact same question and the only answer I have came up with is this. If we don't do these things now while we can, we certainly will not do them later in life, so like you I think all of us go through the same kind of self questioning. I think it will all work out for the best and if it truly was not to be, then something would surely have intervened.

Hey; calm down and enjoy your New HCH ll and be thankful that you are in a position to be able to afford to do this and I am going to do the same.

Monday is Here (Enjoy and Be-Happy)

Terry

Terry,How true but our family in Napa have it worse, they are stuck in their house and can't leave because their road is underwater. At least the house is safe. As for our new HCH, we will have many years to enjoy the ride. And yes, you were right, we are expecting our first child in early August. We are truly blessed.

I picked mine up this afternoon, and all I can say is SOLID! It feels soundly made and very comfortable. It handles very well and feels quite balanced on the road. The brakes take a little getting used to, as does the initial motion after the car's been in AutoStop. I'm enjoying driving down the road and taking my foot off the gas for a glide and seeing that I-FCD hit 100mpg. I'm still figuring out how to get the car into pure electric mode - patience, Grasshopper...

I took it to my coffee shop and back for a 20-mile drive, and I'm averaging 52.5mpg per the trip computer. I'd like to think I can do better with a little time and experience. Although, I have a feeling my mpg's are going to take a hit come summertime here in Houston, so I gotta go rack them up while it's cooler out.

Quick question - Does anyone know if there's a LMPG setting on the car? There are two mileage settings for trips, that can both be reset. I thought there was one that couldn't be reset, but perhaps that's in the Insight. I guess I'll use Trip B for lifetime.

Despite my apprehension about buying a new car, I think I definitely did the right thing. Hey, after 20 years of driving, I think I deserve a nice shiny new vehicle

This forum has been a great source of information and help. I look forward to hearing more about everyone's experiences and sharing my own.

I did the next best thing and put down a deposit on my Silver hybrid. Of course, before that we took a test drive and I am very impressed. The first thing that really impressed me was the incredible visibility all around the car. The car handled well and had a bit of a harsh ride but it could be because the tires were over inflated or something. I managed a 51 MPG over 7 miles and could easily get into electric mode.

Interesting, when my sales guy was showing me the inventory, I noticed there were four hybrids on his list (all builds through January) and only two had names attached (one was mine). He had a blue one with a navigation if anyone is interested.

Wayne: That's true and thanks for the advice. I am used to driving an SUV so it still road much better than my Escape. I had just read about how smooth it was (and let's face it I wasn't paying much attentions as I was trying to get it into electric mode) and expected something different. It was by no means uncomfortable.

I picked mine up this morning ! Galaxy Grey with Ivory trim !!

4 came into the dealership last Wednesday, 3 were spoken for, and I took the last one right away - don't know how many people were on the list after me - as least one that I know of.... I wanted it signed in 2006 though.

I haven't driven much yet, since the weather was quite miserable and rainy today - but the thing I'm noticing the most is how quiet the car is !! (I traded in a 1993 Nissan Sentra with 99700 miles on it).

It's comfortable to drive, I love the adjustable seat since I'm short, and plenty of places to plug in appliances !! Voice-operated computer for email, perhaps ??? (just kidding)

Since I do a lot of in-town, stop-start driving, I'll be very interested in the performance.

I'll contribute more as I drive the car.
