Default MPG dropping after CVT work

Two weeks ago I took my wife’s car a Honda Civic 2003 Hybrid with 99000 miles in for transmission problems again. The transmission had a jitter to it on take off. After looking at it they said that they would need to keep it for a few days. On day three they give me a call saying it ready to come home. I ask what they found they told me that the burnished the transmission meaning they changed the transmission fluid. They had to burnish the transmission 3 tines to stop the jittering but they said it was ready to go. My big question in all of this is it appears that we have lost about 15mpg since the burnishing. My wife was getting 44 to 45 mpg driving back and forth to work since we have picked it up she is getting 29 to 30 mpg. Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas what could be the problem. I told my wife that when we get a chance I will take it in next week and have them look at it again.

Here's an article on CVT repair. It might have nothing to do with your case, but I thought I should share it:

Why would you take it back to the people who caused the problem? I've had similar experiences over the years with dealer service. I bring the car in for one problem, then when I get it back, it mysteriously has a new problem.

I'm extremely suspicious of dealer service centers.

Anyway, take your car somewhere else. Don't expect the people who caused the problem to fix the problem. Don't do the same thing again, but expect different results.
