I can't make my FCD do what you guys have talked about here.... keeping it between 80-120 for extended periods of time unless I'm rolling down a hill with the foot off the accelerator.

Maybe my car's messed up.

When I first got it, there was a distinctive odor, it smelled like burning rubber. It has since dissapated, but when I called the salesman at the dealership, he said that was somewhat normal and to give it a few weeks to break in.

Did anyone else experience that?

I'm still getting 35 MPG even after airing my tires up to 50 PSI and really trying to follow the driving techniques suggested here...

tmrpro:
If you smell something burning then I'd have your Honda service department check it out. Mine never had a burning odor.

Driving for extended periods with the FCD up to its end is only possible (for me) on certain parts of certain roads. In my case to this date, if I drive on a flat road with no wind my car will sustain a speed of about 52MPH at about 85-90 on the FCD.

That's my car and I have more than seven thousand miles on it.
You should have seen an improvement though with the higher tire pressure.

Once again I'd have the service dept check it for the smell.
Not sure about your salesman but in my test drive mind couldn't even tell me what the ECON button does!

One possibility something may be getting too hot in the PCU Power Control Unit,
which is located behind the rear seat.

It is is fan cooled and vented on top of the rear dashboard deck.
I'm not sure if this is an intake vent or (out take?)
I can faintly hear a fan running back there at times

I don't want to go too far into discussing mileage & economy in this section so I've added a new post over there for you.

Well, I wasn't able to take my HCH in until today.

They went over all of the systems and they said they all checked out fine.

I filled up today at Chevron and used the highest grade Techron fuel they have.

My mileage went up to 37.8 MPGs

Maybe the better fuel will improve my numbers.

I did just make an 11 mile trip and achieved 48.9 MPGs... Hmmmm

...I also noticed an improvement on being able to keep my FCD running higher...

Maybe the dealer made an adjustment they didn't tell me about...

....Could a bad tank of gas from the dealership been my problem? <_<
