Default Need to tap into front overhead map light.

I am trying to hardwire a radar detector into the map light in my 04 HCH. Anyone know how I can get to the wires? I took off the plate at the rearview mirror but can't get to them. Any help?

Also, has anyone put in an extra cig lighter/power plug in their HCH and if so , where and how did you tap into the elec system? I need to mount a tablet PC and need some extra power outlets.

TIA,

Mike

Where are you mounting the radar detector? I would take the wire from the cigarette lighter.

As far as running a tablet pc I would probably have a car audio/alarm shop add the extra outlet and have them use a relay off the accessory line and run 12 from the battery to the relay for your equipment.

You don't want to draw too much current off the accessory outlet.

The radar detector is above the rearview mirror.

does your interior light look at all like this? I don't know what 2004 lights are like but maybe this 2003 diagram will help. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...INTERIOR+LIGHT

Yeah, that's what it looks like. Thanks, I pop'ed out the lens and found the 2 screws holding it in place and tapped into the power wire.
