Default Over 3,000 miles and finally a hypermiler...

I passed 3,000 miles with this tank. I can remember when I first purchased the car, I had a hard time maintaining 42 mpg, and now I can sit around 50-51 with no problem at all. (Even with a quick jaunt to 90 MPH from 55 MPH on an on-ramp.) My next tank will not be as impressive as I'm heading off to Navy OCS for most of the summer. It will be a while before I have to fill up again!

Need fewer troops to support.
Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

JJanney,

Congatulations! You're saving $$ and helping to reduce emmissions in the process. In the winter, I was really discouraged by my low 40's MPG. I live near Buffalo (land of cold & lake effect snow). However I'm starting to feel that maybe I can aspire to become a member of the hypermiler "club". My last two tanks have been 57 & 58 MPG.My lifetime has risen from 40 to almost 47 MPG. If the weather continues to warm up, and I continue to refine my driving techniques - I could reach 50 - 51 by September when it starts to get colder here. I hope to have a garage, block heater, and timer by then. Best of luck in your efforts.
