MSantos, thanks for you recommendation! I blocked the two bottom rows. The coolant temperature seems to rise a bit faster than before, but it still never got higher than 80C. I'm just used to higher coolant temps from my previous car (Subaru). It went up to 90C on my 45min commute even when outside temperature was around -10C.

I have already seen some improvement in the fuel economy after installing the insulation!

Lori, your Subaru probably had a 90c thermostat in the cooling system and your HCH2 is more than likely using a 80c thermostat. Maybe we should be installing hotter thermostats in our HCH2's? Something to consider for next winter. Cheers, H

What size insulation? Looks like it's for 3/4" pipe?

The bottom grill needs the one you mentioned and the upper needs a lgr. one.H

So 194 F is the maximum coolant temp. What about intake temp?
