Default Valet Parking Tips?

I wonder what is your experience of letting your Hybrid being parked by the Valets? I went yesterday to a party at Hyat (Newport Beach or is it Irvine?) and preffered a Self Parking. I never cared so much for a vehicle... dunna what's going on....

My wife tells me that she wants a hybrid to now... This civic is my work car but looks like hybrid tech will be our lifestyle soon. I will have a BMW convertible for sale very soon...
. My gas bills are HALF now... man...

Average Gas prices in my area passed $2.5 today... bleah

I haven't done the valet thing yet and I probably will never do it. However, I was at Mohegan Sun casino in CT for a conference and they towed about 250 cars, mine included, to another parking lot while I was there without my knowledge. They needed the parking area for some type of outdoor show/large tent expo....don't know how they do it when the parking brake is on and in Park??? Just hope it didn't damage anything..

My experience is Valet Parking drivers always drive like race car drivers - the more cars they can park in any given time period, the more tips they make !

Of course, they have NO idea how to drive Hybrids - they floor the gas routinely - my lowest mpg except for stop-and-go traffic is in the parking lots (don't forget, they may also move your car multiple times).

I have taught the guy at a regular attendant lot I park at how to be gentle on the gas - he wants a Hybrid for himself !!

My car got a ding in the bumper already from another attendant parking lot - now I generally self-park although it costs me double

The manual, by the way, recommends towing with all 4 wheels off the ground....

Driving HCH since 1/2/06, largely deep city driving. Finally filled up today, 1/19/06 for the first time ! Filled up at 4 bars, 350 miles.

I am planning on avoiding valet parking. I've only had my car (pre-HCH) valeted once before. It was weird.

I did the valet parking once when I first got the car and will never do it again. My mileage dropped by about 2 mpg. I didn't tip the guy, I warned him!

I had to leave mine in the body shop for a few days a couple of months ago. I left a big note on the dash (over the speedometer). "PLEASE DO NOT LET CAR IDLE" Surprisingly when I got the car back a few days later they barely killed the mileage at all, they could tell how analretentive I was about it from the get-go. That and the fact that my OCD shines through, especially about my cars. (oh, they also noticed my family owns a body shop 10 miles away but I chose this shop to do my work instead - I think they thought that a bit odd) I think those were key factors in them being very cautious with my car.

I have a SERIOUS problem with valets. Just can't bring myself to let them drive my car.

ok, I tought it's only me. I dont know what I'm going to do with this... finally I believe I will let it go and wont feel paranoid about it... it's just a car after all. I will see Tuesday... will see how I feel when I have to choose self or valet... ****

the nature of my activity takes me to many valet parking opportunities... I usually have a pile of buks in the car just for this reason...
