Default Wheel covers

Anyone tried to make/test the effect of wheel covers on a HCH? What about reshaping the lower part of the front end (below the plate) to be more aerodynamic and without the holes?

Here's a guy who tried that with his Geo Metro. You should be able to guesstimate what that will do for an HCH.

That is a web page I just read which re-inspired me to try it, I have always thought there would be benefits but his site made me think it would definitely be beneficial.

That cardboard looks silly.

But seriously, could a body shop make custom wheel covers and plug up the holes in the bumper for the foglights?

Drive a hybrid.
Best tank 71.65 MPG.

Before this car I spent two years learning hypermiling on my 2004 HCH1.

All that seems great, but wouldn't that lack of cooling effect efficiency in other ways?

I have to crunch the #'s but if I pay someone to do the work then the mpg increase would have to be HUGE or it would take 10 years to re-coupe the expense.
I am going to make a cardboard version of both then do a without, with grill, then with both this weekend weather permitting.

Temps will have to be monitored but all the holes are there for worst case heat not 100deg heat, I will not make the front permanent (would like to and might once I make it through a summer).

There was a thread here a few months ago about Moon discs. I'd love to but can't bring myself to drilling a few tiny holes in each wheel.
