Who got a California HOV sticker recently?
What is the number on it?
I assume they are being issued sequentially.

My 06 HCH is arriving March or April.
Will I be too late for a sticker?

I would love to see a graph of number of stickers issued vs. time.

Last report from someone here, late last week I think, was in the 38000's. So we're half way to 75000 after four months on the program. I'd say with a March or April delivery you're cutting it real close, although the pace of sticker issues may be a bit slower now because there was a big surge at the beginning.

I received mine late last week, number 0391XX.

I got mine yesterday and it is now 4002x. Exactly 30 days after I mailed in the app. So about 1000 per week.

Give it 35 weeks, but then there will be rush in January.

The program has been going for about 16 weeks. That's an average of about 2500 per week. There was a big rush at the beginning. It sounds like the weekly average now is at least 1300. If we assume conservatively 6000 a month, there are six months left.

The law also requires the dept. of transportation to reevaluate at 50,000.

I sent the application along with the $8 fee on Dec. 19th...Do you think with the holiday season it will push back the date of receiving the sticker?

I called the number posted in another thread and was told that California DMV is running about a 60 day backlog right now. I sent in my clean air app/check in late october after I'd obtained the VIN from the dealer, but before I contracted the car. The check was cashed within 2 weeks, but nothing in the mail. When I called today, she said she saw the transaction on the computer and that it had just posted 2 days prior. There was some confusion as to whether that was the registration or the sticker, but she said to call back if I'd not received anything by the end of the 1st full week of '06.

The DOT has up to 90 days to analyze the situation before halting the issuance of stickers. If they take 90 days it will be May before they make their decision, and they'll probably have issued 65000 stickers by then.

I believe there's another provision, which worries me more. They have the authority to exclude hybrids from particular freeways or freeway sections if they cause congestion to those sections. The I-80 corridor, where the HOV lane requires 3 people in a regular vehicle because it is so congested, is a prime candidate for hybrid exclusion. My wife uses I-80 in her daily commute and would be impacted greatly if hybrid access is cancelled. If it happens, we'll replace the HCH with a Civic GX ASAP. The GX is eligible to use the carpool lane regardless.
