Talking '06 Hybrids under MSRP !

If your a member of Costco, you may want to keep reading...

While I never used it previously, Costco has an Auto buyer Program. You can call a toll free number or fill out the "quote" form on the Costco Warehouse Auto Program web site. I filled out the form on the site and submitted it. (Note I had to use 2005 HCH, as 2006 had no HCH option) About an hour later I got a call from the dealer in my area who said he did not have prices, but would call me back. About 2 hrs later, he called back and said they are taking orders for "06 HCH and selling to the public at MSRP. He then said because this deal was through the Costco Program my price would be ~$250 to $300 UNDER MSRP

He encouraged me to check with other dealer, but said regardless of what other delaers quote, advising the Costco program will beat the price by 1% (~$ 200 assuming sale price of $20,000) ! I know two other dealer that have quoted me MSRP, so I should be at $218.50 under MSRP woerst case.

Well, I beat that amount already. My 06 FEH came in at $915 under MSRP.

Because of my credit union, I was quoted an immediate discount of $500 off of the negotiated price (no matter which Honda I bought and no matter if the negotiated price was above or below MSRP).

hmmm, i wonder if you can combine that with the costco discount - if the dealer gets something from costco, you might be able to get him to combine them.

and thanks for the costco update - some people were saying the hybrids were excluded, but it looks like thats individual dealers talking. heres hoping =)

Yes the Costco info does have the disclaimer that not all vehicles may be included due to high demand and limited supplies (Sounds like the hybrid market to me !) You can bet I am meeting with the dealer to get my price locked in, in writting, before counting my costs.

What is the rate / term of the loan you need to take out to qualify. $500 can be eaten up fairly quickly in just a few hundreths of a precent of loan rate? While I hope it not the case for you, I had a similar promise of saving a few years ago when I went to finance a vehicle (OK, i am coming clean..it was a Dodge Dakota P/U ) but when I told them I was giving a large down payment (financing a fairly small amount) they told me I no longer qualified.
