Question 2006 tax credit - accountant questions

My accountant has asked for "information on the fuel economy and conservation credit components. Please send me a copy along with a copy of the dealer invoice." He needs this information in order to get the 2006 tax credit for my new Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

What does this translate to in real English? Is it something I have to get from the dealer or is it available online? I have the dealer invoice, of course, but I'm afraid that getting the other stuff from the dealer may be a hassle. And I don't know what "conservation credit components" are....

Why is he asking already? It's a 2006 tax credit and he's probably doing your 2005 taxes. You won't need this information for a year. As far as I know, they have not released the final numbers anyway.

Well, I'm self-employed, so I pay quarterly. The credit will affect my next quarter's payment in April. And he's an accountant, so he's detail oriented, and we'd both like to get the necessary paperwork done so that it's, well... done.

Why do those guys make things so complicated. I think the best thing to do is ask your accountant what exactly he is talking aobut. I believe its his job to translate to you what he needs. I have no idea what "information on the fuel economy and conservation credit components" he is looking for.
