Exclamation $3 per gallon gas prices spotted!

I noticed today on my way into to work (in eastern San Diego County) that the local gas stations now have 87 gasoline at $3.01 per gallon!

Luckily I know of some less expensive stations on my commute... but it's only a matter of time before we're all paying that much!

Yay for 46 mpg!

$2.70 in SE Michigan. We will most likely see $3.00+ a week or two before the Memorial Day weekend.

I saw $2.75 in Phoenix today. Now that I have my Civic, I couldn't care less.

I would doubt this would happen with the new owners but it would be nice to have a price per gallon and grade type on the database. This adds to the ability to calculate the total cost per mile. I have a software program that does this but it would be nice to have the GH database do it too.

Hmmm, as I was listening to NPR on the way home from work today they were quoting some group as predicting that gas would average something like $2.68 a gallon this summer. Apparently they haven't been out and about lately....

I'm hanging on to my prediction of >$3.30 for a peak national average this summer. I filled at $2.699 on the NY Thruway on Sunday, and gasbuddy is telling me that the average here in CT has risen to $2.80 as of today. It's April, for crying out loud! I get very decent gas mileage now but I'm kinda wishing I had been smart enough to hold out for a used HCH I or something. (Didn't find you guys soon enough!) Oh, well. I keep telling myself that it's for the best if it means that our society becomes more energy conscious.

Last Wednesday afternoon a new Circle K store opened about a mile away. Their price for regular was $2.619. At noon today it was $2.719. By 4:30 this afternoon it was $2.759.

Right now the Web site I use to track prices is virtually useless. Prices are rising too much and too quickly for users' reports to keep up.

Supposedly a particularly nasty gas station owner near the Orlando airport is selling regular for $3.45. No one else in town was even at $2.80, so I wonder how he gets any customers.

CostCo had it for $2.55/gallon this mornning. I find that they are always about $0.10 cheaper than elsewhere.
