Re: The Amount of Repairs on My Hybrid is...
I voted "less than previous", which may not be a fair comparison because I bought all the others used. In some cases very used.
The 2001 Prius has 84k miles and has not yet had repair costs, strictly speaking. Rear wheel bearing and an engine control module replaced under warranty. I have bought tires and a replacement 12 volt battery. The headlamps did not burn out but I replaced them with Sylvania Silverstar bulbs.
Paid for suspension alignment once, just to make sure it was right. Transmission fluid change, also mostly out of curiosity. Filters, engine oil, and coolants maintained on appropriate schedules. Fuel injector and accelerator butterfly cleanings as needed. Might need new windshield wiper blades next year.
For the things not done yet, speculation. Expect to do the spark plugs twice, and all suspension and brake parts once, on the way to 300k miles. This would make it a very cheap car to maintain over time. Replacement of the frequently discussed (but infrequently replaced!) hybrid-related parts would of course increase maint costs, but perhaps not by as much as is often suspected.
