The Ody actually weighs more, eh ? Well, I guess that shows you two things...

a. The common (?) misconception that 'minivans' weigh less than mid-sized SUVs...

b. I don't know 'all things Honda' (although I do follow the brand, and have owned a few)

Thanks for the clarification...appreciate

Consumer Reports reports an observed city mileage of 12 for the Odyssey but a highway mileage of 28. Quite a wide margin so it is an extremely good target for hybridization.

Hi All:

___I think CR’s city test might be a bit to the left vs. the EPA who appear to ride the far right in most cases. CR’s said the MDX is only worth 12 mpg in the city as well. My wife drives a nightmarish commute and the worst I have seen on the FCD is 15.9 in -5 to 15 degree temps. She doesn’t have a fuel conserving bone in her body so maybe CR’s city numbers are a bit bleak? Then again, they received 27 out on the highway in one and that is a number very few of my fellow X’ers over at Acuramdx.org have seen over any kind of distance

___Good Luck

Well, I own an HCH and a Pilot, so I vote for that.

I agree with what phoebeisis wrote above. The Pilot has direct hybrid competition, the Odesey does not. The Pilot also shares similarities with the MDX, giving Honda a couple of SUV options. I absolutely love everying about my Pilot except the mileage. The interior room is outstanding - particularly the width. 48.5" between the wheel-wells in the back, seats for 8 (even though three of them would have to be kids or smaller adults). My parents own an Odesey too - I'm a big fan as well. Wish Honda would convert both.

Another vote for the CRV. It's by far their highest-volume "truck", and would give them a direct competitor to the FEH.

I myself root for the new pickup. my husband wants one desparately (guy at his shop just got one, and LOVES IT) if not for the gas milage. the guys getting about 17 local, but hasn't taken it on a highway trip. it's just not acceptable - but i'd love the thing if it doubled that

A hybrid SUV or pickup will certainly not get double the mileage of the regular ones... alot of people get around 34 mpg local with the Civic hybrid when driven normally, and that's just a car designed for efficiency.

The Escape, Highlander, and 400 hybrids all get just a small improvement from being hybridized, when driven normally.
