Wednesday morning, C-SPAN will have a program that includes 'transportation issues.' Things to look for:

• "Bell the Hybrid" nonsense
• False hybrid claims (aka., they aren't profitable)
• Bailout

They had a Washington Post reporter, Lyndsey Layton, who was there to discuss the larger, Department of Transportation (DoT) appointment. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is a major department under the DoT. Bigger issues include an $8 B. shortfall in the highway fund that Congress allocated in September.

I sent an e-mail to C-SPAN Journal but I didn't expect and sure enough, it was not presented. FYI, the NHTSA administrator changed Sept. 2, suggesting the political appointees are leaving while the leaving is good.

That is probably a good thing. The political appointees, whose main qualification was that they were loyal to Bush, are leaving. The career service civil servants are running the shop during the interim. They probably don't want to make big decisions before the new administration comes in, but at least they are more likely to be competent. The next administration seems to be making appointments based on qualification and competence.
