Re: CA-40, a new fuel additive
In general, you never need any sort of "additives" in newer cars.
These types of things would only help ( and then, only slightly ) in very old engines, with very high mileage, or in engines not maintained properly over the years. If they were great, ( and necessary ) all dealers would stock them, and your car would come with it from the factory.

Re: CA-40, a new fuel additive
I might test it with my lawn mower before trying in my cars. Their testing suggests it's primary use is as a lubricant yet it is described as a gas additive. This part doesn't make sense and I would prefer to test it on a less expensive engine first.
The test protocol would be to take the head off of the lawn mower at the start of the season and do any PM needed to make sure it is clean. Make photos of the valves and valve seats. Then replace the oil. Finally, do a cylinder head pressure check and start the experiment.
For the rest of the summer, run "ca40g" enhanced gasoline.
At the end of the season, send a sample of the oil to a testing service, do a compression test and pull the head off. Look carefully at the valve seats and head for any deposits. Of course, check the spark plug.
The second approach is to give it as a 'gift' to neighbors who have large fuel inefficient vehicles. Check with them later on how it worked out. . . . tell them it is secret 'hybrid juice.' Better still, give it to hybrid skeptics.

Re: CA-40, a new fuel additive
I have run two tanks through my TOYOTA Camry hybrid with CA40G and have seen about a 5% increase. this level of improvement results in a couple dollars savings per tank - nothing spectacular, but enough for a soda and pack of gum. most of my driving is in town where the electric motir does a good bit of work. I imagine the fuel savings would be greater on the highway when the engine was running all the time.

Re: CA-40, a new fuel additive
These things have come around every time gas goes up. I have never seen any of them work as advertized or even slight improvement. I have done fuel mileage tests and 4 gas analizer tests and never found an improvement. (back to back to back testing) I know alot of you hate the oil companies but if one had a fuel economy additive that boosted FE they would advertize the heck out of it and the competitors would have to come up with their own. They would sell alot more fuel and alot of you would buy it if it worked. There is no free lunch........... E=MC2

Re: CA-40, a new fuel additive
Just think about it.
Anything you add to gasoline that has fewer BTU's ( energy ) per pound than gasoline is going to dilute the gasoline and give you poorer gas mileage.
P.S. I think Dynamite, C4, and Plutonium have more energy per pound than gasoline... short of that, I don't know what else you could add. Adding Nitrous Oxide to your car adds more OXYGEN which allows more fuel to be burned per second, that's all. It is not, by itself, a fuel. And will make your MPG go down tremendously!
