I well remember when Mercedes "made in Russia" were assembled in Russia, that is arrived in Kaliningrad on the Baltic Sea without their wheels which were then " fitted" in Russsia. It was mostly for tax reasons. But even so........

Silly question, but why is it critical? Cars are made around the world and shipped around the world. Other than maybe wanting to favour local industry (which is significant to many), what difference does it make?
