Default Class action settlement

I wanted to let everyone know about a proposed class action settlement against Honda that I received yesterday in the mail. It applies to buyers or leasers of a Honda or Acura model year 2002 - 2006 or Honda Fit, model year 2007 between April 13, 2002 and November 7, 2006.

In a nutshell, this lawsuit claims that odometers overstated the mileage by 2 - 4%. For more information, you can call 888-888-3082 or visit the website: www.odosettlementinfo.com.

Bottom line - the suit will be heard in court on May 30, 2007. If approved, Honda will extend your mileage warranty by 5%.

Like I said, you should receive a copy of this in the mail. Read it carefully and call the phone number above or log on to the website shown. Do not contact me. Good luck.

Ahhhh... 71 pages of legal crap over normal odometer variance of + or - 3.5%. I noticed that the money-grubbing lawyers get $9.5 million and they were so kind to get $10,000 and $1,000 (respectively) for the two original plaintiffs in the case. And who pays the $9.5M? You and I do in higher vehicle prices, of course!

The vast majority of class action lawsuits don't help the end consumer like they're supposed to. The LP OSB siding settlement seemed to help most end consumers, but stuff like the 17" CRT monitors not being 17" was just stupid. Or the Netflix 'it's not unlimited' suit. Come on...it's benefiting the lawyers far more than the consmer, and the cost incured by the company being sued ultimately gets rolled into higher costs to the consumer.
