CNW mentioned in college class
I'm currently taking an online class which involves extensive use of discussion boards. Inevitably, one thread turned toward the environment and hybrids. Another hybrid owner made a post related to her hybrid ownership with another student quickly citing the still-not-quite-dead-yet CNW report (with no references to the actual report or fact-checking, kind of like the original report). Any ideas for a tractful and factual reponse (or links)?

I need to pickup some continuing education credits. Which college offers this?

Start with this:

Pick up their full PDF file report and post and reference freely. I also agree with the earlier posting, we pretty much deconstructed the "CNW Marketing" report, which has the credibility of the old Camels cigarette commercial, "More Doctors smoke camels than any other cigarette."

My school offers distance learning courses. This is the Indianapolis campus of Purdue University.

I'm taking the comm. class online as a pre-req. through College of Lake County, IL. Many community colleges now offer low-cost online courses, so I'd start there. Thanks for the link, it's what I was looking for!

Re: CNW mentioned in college class
I tried one night to find out as much as I could on the internet about CNW. You think it would not be all that difficult to find out who is in charge, but it was nearly impossible. In fact, the few names I found did not have any public data - bios, anything. In fact, the absence of any info was telling - like they tried hard to hide just about everyting about who runs CNW. I only found one vague reference to the person in charge - that he was formerly tied closely with American auto.

I've had a Google news search term set on "CNW Marketing" for a year and a half now and that has led to my understanding.
Art had claimed: (1) formerly built his own electric vehicle, and (2) worked for Ward's automotive for 10 years as a reporter. But it appears his primary source of information is to call local car dealers and survey them. There is little evidence of any sort of direct customer survey like JD Powers and Consumer Reports. So his survey data is colored by the bias of local car dealerships. I've found them to be unusually ill-informed.
Now looking at some of CNW's other claims, I get the impression that anyone who does something he dislikes is doing it "for style." Thus he dismisses customer behavior without having to deal with real facts and data. As for his hack job, "Dust-to-Dust," it suggests he knows how to abuse a spreadsheet . . . no matter how crudely. He also has a bad concept of an academic paper.
I see his company making money by royalties from references to his articles. Those who most like to cite him seem to have an ax to grind and use CNW Marketing to give the illusion of fact checking.

Re: CNW mentioned in college class
Months ago I posted a blog piece about how this was a study that just won't die, but needs to. Amazing staying power for such a shoddy piece of work.
