Default Commute is ruined

My 35 min. to 45 min. commute has been ruined. Its now 1.25hr to 1.50hr drive both ways.

Hwy construction thru Glennpool on Hwy 75 north and south is awful. Theres no good way around it. Going over to the east or west will just yeild more traffic on under developed roads as more folks try to get away from the construction.

Then theres construction from where they screwed up when they 1st. built the Creek Nation Turnpike that goes around the south of Tulsa and turns into Hwy 169 on the east side where I work.

So FE is out it looks like! Your lucky if its beep and creep. Turning the ICE off and on is out. One can put a years worth of wear on the starter just to go 3 miles in Glenpool and Jenks now. Two of my mile plus coast with ICE off are gone and replaced with pure hellish driving.

PLUS had a (&%$^%(&(^%^*& pickup truck with a empty bed and only one person in it threw a rock at the Accord and scratched up the side of the car this am. He got away from me as he bullied his way into traffic in the construction zone on the Creek Nation Turnpike.

Now I dont even look forward to getting off work

See if there is anyone to car pool with. Offer to drive if they pay for the gas. At least then you will get some benifit from driving to work.

Wife in I ride in together as is. IE only one car going to Tulsa insted of two. And most people in the small city I live in prefer welfare over working to start with.

Its just a cruel fact of life it looks like. We cant live in Tulsa. I would be in the papers for hurting people.

http://www.psyshack.com There you will find info on the area we live in on the front page. Not 56k nice. Dial upers need not click.

Whoa, that really sucks, it sounds like a nightmare! . I haven't been up to Tulsa in awhile, I didn't realize there was so much construction south of town.

I can sympathesize as one of my high mileage routes was taken away with the construction being complete on a city loop. It used to be 40 miles an hour for about 5 miles, with a long coast at the end. I would usually get 65-70 mpg on the section and always increase my tank average. Now there are stoplights or you get on the interstate...bah! Definitely not as bad as yours though.

Worse than the nightmarish commute you suffer is the yahoo that threw the rock. A few in this thread seem to come down on people going the speed limit while blessing thoses that want to go 20mph over - like the hothead that threw the rock.

Well I have the opposite story, my commute of 1.30hr is now 35-40min. Construction is over. What a nightmare, I feel for you.

The rock flying off the truck tire at the Accord was just insult to injury. And then on top of that he drove on down the road and went as far as he could go before he had to merge into a single lane traffic. At which time he bullied his way into traffic. I would like to see him try that with me. What yeah want to bet he buys a new Accord if he trys that BS on me?? lmao. Everybody was merging and doing all they could to keep traffic moving. Then comes along this idiot red neck.

Its kinda funny. Wife and I had to take the truck into Tulsa Friday to pickup her new frig. at the Maytag direct dealer. And then again Monday for some other hauling duties. We where so glad to get it home Monday evening. We have both grown to hate it. I will have to drive it in Friday of this week. Wife has a comfrence she has to go to Friday night and Saturday. I dred driving it in. I cant wait untill I can get my new Civic Si. Was looking at a Civic EX Coupe this morning for $17.683 on my dealers website. Wife reasured me I wouldnt be happy with the EX. Remembering the test drives I had to agree. But still better than the Ranger.

That sounds like an awful ride. It's weird; one of my favorite main roads now in Jax is a 4-laner that runs about 20 miles through town. Speed limit's 45 but people always go 60-65 when they can and bumper-to-bumper stop and go for 2 hours a day during rush hour. It was just a killer to FE but the quickest route to a lot of key places...and then a miracle happened...construction!!! Now the limit is 35/40 miles per hour for about 10 miles and it's WONDERFUL! Nobody uses it b/c they think it's too slow now, so it's actually even faster than when it used to get overjammed, and those who do drive are terrified of C-Zone ticket fines so everyone does the limit. Hypermile city.

This highway has an escort truck that leads a pack of cars through a maze of construction... FUN!
